Trekking routes to Ta Xua peak

There are 2 trekking routes to the top of Ta Xua peak. The traditional trekking route to the top of Ta Xua is from Tram Tau – Yen Bai. With a route of about 13km divided into 2 stages, the first stage from Tram Tau to the resting area is 9km long and takes 7 hours of trekking. The second stage is from the resting area to the top of Ta Xua with a length of about 4km. Tourists have to spend the night at these resting areas to continue trekking to the top of Ta Xua the next morning and return the same way.

A newly discovered trekking route starts from Bac Yen, Son La, following the path from Xim Vang, Bac Yen – Hang Chu – Ta Xua Peak, then descending towards Tram Tau, Yen Bai. Trekkers will stay overnight at the resting area before descending to Tram Tau the next morning. This route saves 4 hours compared to the traditional route.

How to get to the starting point of trekking to the top of Ta Xua

For the traditional route, tourists will have to take a passenger bus from Hanoi to Nghia Lo – Yen Bai, then take a taxi or motorbike to Tram Tau. Start trekking from Tram Tau – resting area – Ta Xua peak and then return the same way.

Take a bus from Hanoi to Xim Vang, Bac Yen District, Son La. Travel to Hang Chu, where the trek begins: Hang Chu → Ta Xua Peak → Base Camp → Tram Tau.
